What is SMG

The Show Me the Green Conference is an annual Ontario University environmental sustainability case competition held at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Our mission is to inspire future business leaders to strive towards creating new ventures that are not simply economically profitable, but also environmentally responsible.

When and Where is SMG 2016?

SMG will be held at the University of Toronto Mississauga's Instructional Centre on Saturday, March 12th, 2016.



How do I sign up?

You can register and pay during UCS office hours (11am-4pm Monday to Thursday), the office is located in UTM’s Student Centre room 130.



What are the requirements?

Delegates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a university in Ontario. Delegates must have a team consisting of 4 students. The team does not need to consist of students from the same university. Delegates are required to form their own teams.



How much does it cost?

  • Early bird cost is $140 total per team
  • General cost is $160 total per team


Who hosts SMG?

SMG is hosted by the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) in partnership with the Undergraduate Commerce Society.



Who should be participating at SMG?

The delegates of SMG comprise of students in any undergraduate program and at any university across Ontario.


What is the dress code?

The dress code for SMG is strictly Business Professional. As future business leaders, dressing in Business Professional attire will be the norm and so we need to become as comfortable as possible.



Who is coming?

SMG will be attended by a multitude of sponsors and students.


Competition

9th Annual Case Competition

The Show me the Green conference is the marquee event held at the University of Toronto Mississauga. It is a large-scale case competition where 20+ teams participate and come up with great ideas that are both innovative and try to accomplish a singular goal: sustain the world with something that is both economically and environmentally friendly. Now in its 9th year, the SMG conference continues to grow and allows the youth of today to help the world of tomorrow.

Mansee Bubber - SMG Co-Chair

Mansee is a highly motivated and driven student pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce degree with a Specialist in Finance. Organizing a sustainable event providing a platform for students to engage with professionals and a forum for the innovation of environmental solutions reinforces her zeal for green-initiatives. With her prior experience and devout interest in event set up at SMG 2015, she ensures that she will undoubtedly do her best to execute a professional and unforgettable SMG 2016!

Austin Oude-Reimerink - SMG Co-Chair

As SMG Co-Chair, Austin is excited to bring his personal touch to this year’s competition. He is a third year student, specializing in finance, who values the need for environmental sustainability in the work place. Austin strives to make this year’s SMG the best ever using his creativity, communication, and organizational skills. Austin has always had a passion for event planning, and ensures everything runs smoothly when he’s at the helm. Outside of school Austin enjoys an array of outdoor activities including sports, camping, and fishing, and would like to tie in his love for nature with the business world he studies.

Christina Lefas - Operations Associate

Christina is a very dedicated and determined individual who is in her 3rd year, and is specializing in accounting. She loves helping others, and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, building houses for those less fortunate. She strongly believes that giving back to the community is essential in her daily life, and as such loves helping out. Christina truly believes that more needs to be done to help the environment, as it is the key to our future survival. Christina is looking forward to hosting this event that will bring people together to make our vision for a greener future a reality.

Davi Chahal - Operations Associate

Davi is an ambitious and hard-working student who is pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce degree with a specialization in Accounting. She has a passion for event planning and transforming venues with eye-catching and breathtaking decoration pieces. She feels that it is vital for the community to encourage the youth to participate in events like Show Me the Green, where they are able to showcase, not only their innovative skills but also the ability to make those innovations into environmentally friendly ones. With her participation in several environmental events for the past few summers, she has now joined the Show Me The Green team to bring awareness to the benefits of being environmentally friendly.

Joshua Saroea - Corporate Relations Associate

Joshua is an ambitious and determined 3rd year accounting specialist student who is excited to make a difference. He joined SMG because he believes that this is an amazing opportunity to get involved and be a part of something new. Joshua believes that more businesses are becoming environmentally aware and environmental sustainability is continuing to gain importance. He hopes to further increase awareness with this year’s SMG conference.

Eesha Hasan - Corporate Relations Associate

Eesha Hasan is a diligent second-year student at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), pursuing a double major in Business and Social Sciences. Networking is her passion and as a Corporate Relations Associate at UTM's Undergraduate Commerce Society, she is excited to work with businesses towards achieving the goal of a sustainable environment. Eesha has been conducting environmental research on climate change, health and adaptation under the direction of a University of Toronto professor, who is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She strongly believes that by incorporating the triple bottom line accounting framework of 'people, planet and profit,' firms can effectively measure their business performance and increase their long-term success.

Ali Rana - Promotions Associate

Ali is an ambitious first year Commerce student who is dedicated in making this year’s conference a success. He is determined to promote the significance of sustainability amongst all students in today’s business world. Ali being from an international background loves interacting with people and is very approachable. He is looking forward to seeing everyone at the conference this year.
